Job Summary

This position will be located in the company's headquarters of Highland Park, MI, or remotely in the U.S. in the following states: AL, FL, GA, ID, KS, KY, LA, MI, MS, MO, MT, NM, NJ, NC, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, WV.

 

The Travel Specialist provides services for both Domestic & International requests. The specialist will consistently provide the highest level of customer service and professionalism ensuring continued support of exceptional travel and value added services. They will provide priority wait-listing, preferred seat selection, upgrade management as needed.  This position will recommend to clients efficient and alternate routes, lowest available fares, booking class, exchange rates and travel products/services. This position uses extensive travel knowledge to mentor all agents with travel basics best practices and production.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provides complex travels services to customers including but not limited to cruise and package services
  • Works with travel service provider to create travel arrangements
  • Acts as the travel subject matter expert for training materials and knowledge database
  • Develop concierge curriculum for all concierge levels
  • Manages multiple requests in different stats
  • Creates best practices and suggests changes to current processes to ensure customer satisfaction and production
  • Mentor all agents with travel basics and best practices

Area of expertise (Skills)

  • 5000 hours of hands on experience as a Travel Specialist or a minimum of five years in the travel agency industry working as a certified Travel Agent
  • Demonstrated proficiency with GDS travel procurement system  (i.e. Sabre)
  • Demonstrated knowledge/understanding of  international travel law
  • Demonstrated knowledge/understanding of multi-modality travel itineraries
  • Demonstrated knowledge/understanding of multi-carrier with multi-connection flight itineraries
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • At least 5 years working with GDS software (i.e. Sabre, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of booking highly complex multiple leg international itineraries
  • Strong creative problem solving skills
  • Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency while maintaining exemplary detail accuracy under pressure
  • Personal International travel experience is preferred

Other Skills and Experiences (Min)

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Certified Travel Associate (CTA) or Certified Travel Counselor (CTC) desired
  • Sabre certified with a minimum of five years related experience (or similar GDS)
